Call it a weak moment but the first time I sniffed Osmia’s Night Body Oil over a year ago, I was hooked. It was an instant purchase that quickly became a favorite in my stash. When a blogger owns a ton of beauty supplies yet succumbs to a product because she can’t resist it, you know it has got to be good.
That’s one reason why I couldn’t be happier to receive Night Body Oil again in February’s Beauty Heroes Discovery Box, along with the Lip Doctor—another winner that I had already purchased a couple of months ago. My dry skin has met its match! What’s great is that these products are unisex, so everyone can enjoy them (when and if I agree to share).
If you’re like me that all you need to hear is “Osmia” to start shopping, then don’t let me stand in your way. Given the fantastic track record, plus the fact that the last selection from Osmia has become a repeat purchase and a staple in our house, these two additions are sure to please. Osmia Night Body Oil + sweet dreams
Still here? Great! I’m going to tell you a bit more about why I am loving this selection.
Night Body Oil, $64, is brimming with 11 nourishing oils that boost skin’s resilience and spur healing, including organic jojoba oil, antioxidant kukui oil, regenerative rosehip seed oil, and anti-inflammatory hemp seed oil. Surprisingly, you won’t be left with an oil slick on your skin. This formula glides on easily and then melts right in, leaving skin silky soft, moisturized, and delicately scented.
My favorite way of using it is straight out of the shower, while skin is wet, as per founder Dr. Sarah Villafranco’s recommendation. (Yep, she’s a real doctor who worked in the ER prior to launching Osmia.) That way it seals in hydration without needing any extra ingredients and preservatives—only active botanicals to treat your torso. Though damp skin is preferred, I still whip it out in those “whenever” moments when I just want to feel good. I find that even a quick and quiet moment of self-care helps center me in the midst of a hectic day or first thing in the morning.
While the scent does consist of organic lavender, this is not your typical lavender infusion at all. It’s way more intriguing and enticing, and I seriously can’t get enough of it. Even my kids and husband like how it smells on me which is saying a lot, since they are pretty vocal when they don’t like something.
The heady blend also includes Roman chamomile and atlas cedarwood, which induce a relaxed state—and that’s no lip service. The therapeutic properties of the three essential oils are known to be calming, soothing, and grounding as well as able to stimulate the pineal gland which releases melatonin (the sleep hormone). Do I actually sleep better after using it? Mmm…that may be a stretch, but it does help me release tension through the very act of applying it and indulging in the earthy scent.
My sleep formula (this never fails!)**
To help me unwind after a long day or if my muscles are stiff and achy, I spray my body with topical magnesium from Earthshift. This stuff is seriously amazing and works like a potent elixir to relax my entire being. This essential macro-mineral activates over 300 enzyme reactions in the body and helps ease me into a state of releasing and letting go. I follow up with Night Body Oil and Bach’s Rescue Remedy tincture when my mind is working overtime (especially in the middle of the night) and I need to chill. All are non-addictive (though I’m pretty sure the body oil is habit-forming), and no sleeping pills are ever needed.
C’mon! Don’t you love the name of this lip balm? It’s the perfect Rx for dry or chapped lips. I think the gremlins in my house have been stealing my Lip Doctor—twice already! I guess they know a good thing when they see one. This is the second time that I own one, and it has vanished much like the first. However, it didn’t disappear before I was able to test out its moisture-locking abilities.
It contains only six carefully selected ingredients including: organic olive oil infused with Colorado-grown, organic lavender (harvested by Osmia themselves), organic cocoa butter and beeswax to give it staying power, organic avocado and argan oils to mend chapping. Together, these give the stick a buttery glide, though it may take some warming up to soften it a bit before applying, especially if you leave it in the cold. The easy remedy for that is just pressing it to the lips and holding it there for a few seconds to create that perfect molten texture.
There’s no scent or flavor, but I wouldn’t call it plain. It stays put longer than some other lip balms which is a huge perk.
The two products together are valued at $76. By buying them through a Beauty Heroes subscription, you’re getting them for about 50% off. That’s a sweet deal! If you’ve already tried them, let me know your thoughts in the comments. If you haven’t, click the link below to discover them now.
Some big changes
Have you noticed that Osmia got a makeover? I did, and I’m thrilled about it! Here’s why in case you’re curious. I’ve always had total faith in this Colorado-based indie brand, and the updates give me even more reasons to love it.
