By now, it’s a regular occurrence that opening a Beauty Heroes box elicits outbursts of joy and a great deal of jumping up and down. Since I started receiving it in November 2014, this monthly subscription service has been one of consistent value and excitement, and perhaps more importantly, a steady reminder that beauty can be fun, unhurried, and inspired.

The first message in June’s pretty package is a perfect example: “Beauty Is As Beauty Feels.” It’s a most apropos greeting for the treats inside the box. Can makeup evoke beautiful thoughts and feelings? The June 2016 Beauty Heroes selection proves that it can.

This month, Beauty Heroes reveals The Modern Minerals Emotive Makeup Collection, valued at $96, a stunning collaboration between Modern Minerals Makeup and Lotus Wei. Two lip glosses, an eyeshadow, and an exclusive new release are unlike any makeup that I’ve ever tried before, accompanied by a message worth taking to heart.

“Your mind is in every cell of your body.” – Candace Pert Tweet this!

The fusion of both Modern Minerals’ flair for style with Lotus Wei’s insight into gemstone and flower essences is a tour de force that could potentially change the face of beauty. The philosophy behind the merger truly speaks to me and my ideal of beauty.

It is founded on the intrinsic connection between the way we feel and the way we look. Both are so inherently tied that our feelings and thoughts can shape what we see in the mirror. The reverse is true as well, that how we look impacts the way we feel. That means that when those thoughts and feelings change, or our appearance changes, there is an overflow that alters the way we view ourselves and the world around us. And that, my friends, is where the shift really happens.

“We believe beauty is whole, and interconnected, and that our emotive qualities are reflected in our physical features,” says the MM website.  “With mindful moods, we can empower ourselves by making thoughtful choices and living gracefully on this earth.   Emotive makeup evokes feelings of compassion, love, happiness and bliss, so that all of that loveliness can be your best face forward.”

The experience begins within, further expanded by using makeup that challenges toxic emotions and enhances our well-being. And that is where this leading edge collection steps in and why it’s such a perfect fit for Beauty Heroes.

Two enticing lip glosses

Just look at these juicy, happiness-inducing colors that are ripe for the picking this summer.

Padparadscha, $25, a word that translates as ‘the color of a lotus flower at sunset,’ is the name of a rare, pink and orange sapphire. Modern Minerals captures the color in this delectable gloss that’s infused with pink camellia flowers and pink tourmaline to uplift and awaken positivity, while dispelling toxic emotions. It’s laced with a light-as-a-feather floral fragrance composed of lavender, chamomile, rose, and neroli that whispers sweet nothings from my lips. The formula contains marine collagen, natural oils, and butters to moisturize and give lips a non-tacky finish and lustrous shine. The color payoff is excellent. One swipe on the lips deposits an instant wash of color that can be layered for a bolder look. It’s absolutely melt-worthy, and I can’t get enough of it.

Citrine, $25, inspired by the peach citrine gemstone, is a peach gloss with light gold shimmer. It’s the only product in June’s box that isn’t part of the Emotive Collection. Instead this tingly and invigorating blend is part of the Invigorating Lip Gloss collection that contains an Ayurvedic lip-plumping ingredient called Swertia Chirata Extract and Asian Dragon Fruit to enhance the appearance of fullness. If my lips are looking like Brigitte Bardot, no one has told me yet, but my pout has not suffered a moment’s dryness since using these glosses either.

I love to wear these glosses layered or on their own.

Intrigued…or rolling your eyes?

I know. I know. You’re probably rolling your eyes thinking: “It’s lip gloss, Sarita, puh-leez…Get a grip!” And I don’t want to dismiss those thoughts of yours. Had I not tried these myself since last summer, I’d probably agree. Trust me, these are different, and I could sense it from day one.

I don’t know if it’s the scents, ingredients, or intentions that are entirely uplifting—or perhaps the powerful combination of all three—but there is a feel-good feeling that accompanies every application. Actually, the scent embraces me every time I use the lip glosses, causing me to step back from whatever I’m preoccupied with at that time and take a few seconds to inhale and center myself in present moment awareness. That’s no surprise. The powers of flower essences are not new to me and have been elemental in my own healing journey. They work—even when applied topically.

Sweet deal for memebers + non-members!

These glosses have been all I want to have on my lips, and actually, they’re all I’ve been wearing since trying them last summer at Indie Beauty Expo. Yeah, I’ve habitually been carrying eight irresistible MM lip glosses…in my bag…totally not joking. The good news is that if you find you need more than the two gorgeous colors that come in the box (and who doesn’t?), they’re all sold in the Beauty Heroes Shop.

Every purchase of $100 earns Beauty Heroes members and non-members an Agent Nateur Deodorant Holi(stick) that smells fantastic and totally works (also happens to be Josh Rosebrook’s favorite pick here).

An eye shadow + new product launch

The lip glosses pair beautifully with the shimmery warm pink and peach hues of the Rose Quartz – Flower Infused Eye Shadow, $16, a coconut rose eye shadow that contains rose extracts that have antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties to help replenish and rejuvenate skin. The formula is designed not to crease or dry out the delicate eye area thanks to the addition of rose petal, honeysuckle, and vitamin E extract, blended with coconut for natural hydration. I’m not much of a shimmer gal, but my little ladies adore this shadow, and I feel great about letting them play with clean makeup that awakens the gorgeous goddess within them.

This month’s Beauty Heroes also offers the exclusive launch of Modern Moonstone flower infused cream highlighter, $30. Since turning 45, a boost of luster restores a glow to skin, and this silky, sheer touch of soft gold accents all the right features. I’m still testing whether or not the addition of coconut is an issue for my skin, but so far so good. No breakouts.

I really think this box will sell out like the last one, so if you want the June 2016 Hero product collection, head over now and click that subscribe button on the Beauty Heroes website. Subscriptions are for 3, 6, or 12 months, still at the phenomenal $39 per month price, and each box gets better and better. A little bird told me that there’s something very exciting coming in July too and you’ll be very, very happy! As you can see, Beauty Heroes knows how to deliver feel-good beauty from the inside and out.
