Before there was green beauty, there was Jane Iredale. When I was looking for cleaner makeup nearly 20 years ago, I found an apothecary in NYC that carried this iconic label. I’ve been using the products ever since. Though never claiming to be natural or green, this company certainly paved the way for many other green brands to follow suit and continues to push the trends. The latest Spring releases* are as eco-chic and wearable as ever.
The Spring 2016 Collection blooms with the prettiest blush, a gorgeous eye shadow set, and brow colors—each in their own skinny compact that’s easy to slip into a purse for touch ups. Plus, there’s a pretty caramel colored lip gloss that wears like rose gold on the lips. The theme celebrates SKIN IS IN for a “bare but better” look.
Naturally Matte Eyeshadow Kit and PurePressed Blush
The Jane Iredale Naturally Matte Eye Shadow Kit, $58, may be my most favorite eye shadow set to date. Not a shimmer in sight—something I prefer to avoid. A makeup artist once told me that shimmer calls attention to creases and lines, so I play with a bit of sparkle sparingly. Mainly, it’s personal preference, and I don’t love how it looks on me, which makes this matte compact a real find.
Buttercream and Hush are so sheer that I can use all over my lid to create the perfect base for the other shadows. These are virtually mistake-proof on me and I can wear them, layer them, and explore color combinations without looking gaudy or like I just stepped out of That 70’s Show. I could never rock that robin’s egg blue.
The matte colors are:
Buttercream—a creamy neutral for lids (I use to neutralize discoloration + highlight)
Hush—sheer peach/soft pink (another sheer veil that’s perfect for covering lids)
Slate Brown—grey brown (gorgeous as a smoky eye or in crease)
Eggplant—rose brown (pretty under brow bone to give a pop of color and bring out eyes)
Fudge—a rich chocolate (perfect to line eyes and add definition)
PurePressed Blush in Flawless, $30—a very wearable peachy, pink brown that picks up the Eggplant eye shadow and plays well with the other colors
The Great Shape Eyebrow Kit
The Great Shape Eyebrow Kit, $35, comes in Brunette (left) and Blonde (right). Both tame and fill in brows. I’ve got a few spaces where I went kamikaze plucking my brows, so I’ve been using this to fill in the gaps and it looks so natural. You’d never know.
How about those sleek compacts? They’re lightweight and slim as can be. Total love! I’m also digging the PureGloss Lip Gloss in White Tea, $24. It’s creamy without being tacky and adds just the right amount of shine and color. It smells fantastic too and contains fruit extracts to make it extra luscious.
Head over to Jane Iredale to check them out or win the ENTIRE SPRING COLLECTION in this GIVEAWAY valued at $147 and open to all participants, including international. Winner will be announced Monday, April 11th. Good luck!!
