From the moment I opened the pretty white box, Biba Lips had me swooning with Scarlet O’Hara grace. This gorgeous lip creme captures Old Hollywood glamour with its vintage, gold toned compact. If that were not enough, this pincushion sized compact comes complete with mirror and lip brush and dispenses one of the most lip-loving formulas around. Plus, the case can be stashed in its own snazzy little black pouch. (Check out that hawt pink lining.)
The impeccable formula infuses lips with gorgeous ingredients like kokum butter imported from India, green tea, rosehip oil, jojoba, rosemary, and grapeseed oil that provide potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits to perk up any pout. Colors layer on beautifully so that the shade can be customized to suit my needs. I love that because lately all I want is to dab on a sheer veil and I’m good to go. For more, all I need to do is apply more with my fingertips or with the handy brush.
Naturally, I asked the absolutely lovely founder, Sapna Gandhi, how she got the name Biba and her answer made me adore this brand even more.
“Biba is a slang word used in Northern part of India, where my husband is from,” she told me. “He calls me ‘biba’ a lot. Biba means endearing, lovable, beautiful inside out.
“And when I was looking into naming my company I thought of biba because it’s very catchy, and the meaning resonates with my product and a tribute to each and every woman who I feel is truly beautiful inside and out! That’s why I address my consumers as BIBAs.”
There are three wearable colors. Biba Lips generously sent me one, but I couldn’t resist buying the second one. They’re both instant favorites.
Elegant Red—A beautiful, regal reddish plum color that’s flattering on everyone (not shown).
Inspire Pink—A pop of classy, rosy pink to brighten the lip and inspire new adventures. It looks bold but can be tossed on in a pinch with just the right amount of punch to add a hint of pretty in pink without overdoing it.
Clarity Nude—The perfect nude-beige to use when creating a pale, neutral lip, with a hint of clarity to give hope. This color glides on like nylon hosiery that gives a glimpse of barely there pigment. Always perfect with a bold eye.
