Discovering new product lines that I’ve never heard about before is a definite perk of my monthly Spa Heroes subscription boxes. Because the standards of curating their beauty selections are so high, I don’t have to worry about receiving a product that may not meet my requirements for clean ingredients or that fall short of being effective.

To give you an idea, every “hero” product that’s selected must undergo a rigorous testing period by over 30 experts who evaluate efficacy and results after using it. Truthfully, I’ve never heard of such extensive testing for a subscription box service before! If it doesn’t pass muster with them, it doesn’t make it into the box. For more details about what else goes into a Spa Heroes box, check this out.

Read on because I’ve got some big news about Spa Heroes that’s going to make this subscription box even more covetable! But first, let me tell you a bit about what’s inside August’s box because tomorrow is the last day to get it, and I don’t want you to miss out on an incredible deal.

Spoiler Alert! You’ll be getting two full-sized products that deliver some amazing results on reducing hyperpigmentation—those dark spots on skin that never seem to go away fast enough, if at all. They’re priced at $96 for both, but through Spa Heroes, you can get them for $39 (or less with coupon code below!).

An intro to Previse Skincare

August’s box introduced me to Previse Skincare, a line developed by a team of dermatologists, medical professionals, and estheticians who prioritize customized skincare regimens based on the Fitzpatrick Scale.

The Fitzpatrick Scale

What’s the Fitzpatrick Scale, you ask? It’s a way of measuring skin condition through melanin levels, a.k.a. the pigment that gives skin, hair, and eyes their color. Previse SkinCare devised questions based on this scale to find out the degree of sun exposure and damage that can affect skin hyperpigmentation and health. They then provide their recommended Level that will optimally address your skin’s needs.

Nutrify and Defend, the two Previse SkinCare products that arrived in my Spa Heroes box, quench skin with lightweight hydration that’s ideal for summer’s oilier skin conditions. Based on numerous user feedback, results are nothing short of staggering.

Founder of Spa Heroes, Jeannie Jarnot, is herself blown away by the emails that she’s receiving.

“People are loving it for the season,” she told me in an email. “They love that it’s oil free.  And they are writing us over and over again that they can’t believe that it has lightened sun spots and hyperpigmentation so quickly—four days! I’ve had several members post that and email me about it.”

At first, I wondered where I’d fit these two products into my current skin care regimen, but quickly realized that they’re perfect on their own or as an add-on treatment combined with serum.

Jeannie confirmed.

“The tonic [Nutrify], customers use as a first step, under anything else,” she said. “You can mix in a serum or face oil with it if you like—or just layer over.  Defend is a great serum to wear over.  Defend is ideal for travel and on the go.  It’s a serum that’s not too oily—so it too is great for summer, daytime and under makeup.”

 Nutrify Tonic Level 1-6

Nutrify Oil-Free Tonic, $48, is like nothing I’ve tried before—and is gradually becoming a favorite summer companion. It’s neither a serum nor a toner which places it into its own unique category. Its purpose is to hydrate skin and protect against free radicals and waterborne pollutants or harsh chemicals, like chlorine.

Because of its water-like consistency, it is designed to absorb deep in the dermis to keep pores clean. One key high performance ingredient is daisy flower extract or Bellis perennis. According to the company, it’s a non-bleaching botanical that helps stop brown spots.

I do like mixing it with my serum in the morning for a weightless layer of added protection and prevention. As far as lightening dark spots, it definitely shows promise and I’m going to keep using it because I’m eager to see if it erases sun damage on the left side of my face that’s exposed to the sun while I drive. (I know! How annoying is that?)

Full list of ingredients: Aqueous Solution (Water, Saccharide Isomerate, Algae Extract, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Wasabia Japonica (Wasabi) Root), Bellis Perennis (Daisy) Flower Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Panthenol, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Extract, Hydrolyzed Chondrus Crispus Extract, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Extract, Yeast Extract.

Defend Face Serum

Defend Face Serum, $48, is not a sunscreen and shouldn’t be used as such. However, this thin, gel-like pre-sun treatment offers an extra barrier to prevent skin damage from sun exposure. You’d think that with these extra layers skin would feel weighed down, but the opposite is true.

Neither product contains harsh preservatives, silicones, petroleum, or synthetic oils, so there are none of the occlusive ingredients that clog pores or keep them hanging on to the surface of skin. These definitely absorb seamlessly until I nearly forget that they’re on my skin.

Defend powers up the serum with Sunflower Seed Oil, Red Algae, Sodium Hyaluronate, Fennel Fruit, and Saccharomyces.

With an increase in exposure to environmental toxins, I’d say our skin needs to be shielded more than ever and this duo prevents and heals damage effectively without resorting to harmful chemicals. That they fit right into my normal routine makes them easy to add on without undesirable product build-up.

Full list of ingredients: Aqueous Solution (Water, Algae Extract, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil), Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Cetearyl Olivate, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Sorbitan Olivate, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Xanthan Gum, Lactobacillus/Bean Seed Extract/Sodium Glutamate Ferment Filtrate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Hydrolyzed Chondrus Crispus Extract, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Extract, Saccharomyces /Calcium Ferment, Fragrance All Natural Bulgarian Lavender.

Big news for Spa Heroes

As I mentioned earlier, Spa Heroes is going through some exciting changes to make it even better than it already is—hard as it is to imagine, I know!

The company is transitioning to a new name and will soon be called Beauty Heroes* in order to encompass a wider range of products that they will be able to offer. How awesome is that?! I’m truly excited about what’s in store.

For now, it’s not too late to head on over to Spa Heroes and take advantage of the amazing offer to receive the two products mentioned in this post—valued at $96—for $39. You can use the code LOVESPA to get $10 off your first box. That means that you can get both these products for $29. That’s absolutely incredible—and even a little cray cray!!!

Plus membership entitles you to receiving an exclusive coupon code to buy products from the shop at a 15% discount—you know, gorgeous products like Mahalo Skincare and Bottega Organica that rarely go on sale.

Have you tried Previse SkinCare before? What are you loving from the line or from your Spa Heroes box?

* The link should be active by Monday!! As mentioned before, after trying out Spa Heroes as a customer, I happily agreed to become one of their ambassadors because I value what the company has to offer and hold Jeannie Jarnot in high esteem. However, I continue to offer my honest feedback about the products and will not write about them if I don’t see positive results.
