Last week, I mentioned to you how much I’m loving NU EVOLUTION Cosmetics here. This week, I’d like to share one product that really stands out—the mascara.
I think anyone who has seen me when I’m wearing makeup will confess to noticing my racoon eyes. It’s proof that I’ve been having the hardest time finding a great one from among the “natural” brands that doesn’t have migratory tendencies. Yes, I’ve pretty much tried them all, yet most either flake, leave dark rings, or simply don’t give my lashes enough extra oomph to be worthwhile.
So you can imagine how excited I was when I applied NU EVOLUTION’s mascara and spent an entire day out in the hot summer heat, sweating, as usual, with face shiny—er, I mean glistening fetchingly—and not a single black streak appeared under my eyes the whole time! It’s true. This NU EVOLUTION mascara won’t budge. Not one bit. Amazing, right?! Yep. I thought so.
At $28, it doesn’t hurt the wallet either and places it on par with Lancome’s mascaras and less than Kjaer Weis, which retails for $38.
This mascara also volumizes and glams up my lashes like mad. Win win. And can we have a moment of simply staring at the sexy packaging? It’s clear that founders Nadine Cormier and Sandra Anderson Diaz know what’s hot. Yeah, Baby!
Having talked with them at length about product development, they said that they had the same problem as I did with natural mascaras. They couldn’t handle the shedding and flaking of the cleaner mascaras, especially while at work in the fashion world.
In creating their own formula, they made a conscious choice to keep it as natural as possible without compromising performance. That means that ingredients like Triethanolamine and Shellac in minute quantities may be less than stellar, but do manage to keep the mascara in tact—that is, on your lashes and not hailing down your face. I like to mention these so that people who wish to avoid them are aware.
The rest of the list is impressive with many natural and organic ingredients to benefit lashes: chamomile, sunflower seed oil, thyme, oregano, cinnamon, rosemary, lavender, goldenseal, vitamin E, and rice powder round out this fantastic formula.
“Our hydrating oils nourish and condition lashes,” explained Nadine and Sandra, “while our waxes, rice powder and other dynamic ingredients add thickness, definition and a volumizing effect. Our perfectly shaped brush allows the formula to glide on smoothly and accentuate each lash.”
“We have had amazing feedback from several new clients who have experienced sensitivities in, or around the eye area and were not able to wear mascara. Initially they were skeptical but were excited to try it, and once they did they were blown away with the results. The fact that they did not experience any negative reactions…they are now hooked!”

I’m using Per-fekt and liking it a lot. Have you tried it?
What is that chemical (Tri…) and the shellac used for in this mascara? Please explain why they may not be something I would want in my mascara. Thanks so much.
Hi Annette! I have not tried that one. I’m not too concerned about those ingreds, especially in a mascara that doesn’t touch the skin and doesn’t irritate eyes. I linked the ingredient above. On the same site, there’s more info about shellac. But here used in such small amounts that it’s barely negligible. Hope you get to try it. It’s a winner in my book!XO
Is the formula on the wet side or dry side? I need a dry formula to keep my asian stick straight lashes curled.
Hey Tina! I’d need an example of a wet formula/dry formula to know exactly what you mean, but I’d say this is more on the dry side without being drying.
I keep trying various cruelty free, natural, organic, healthy mascaras….and while some are ok, none are fabulous. (ELF, Pacifica both of them, Antonym). I will check this one too…so thanks! I also just ordered one from 100% Pure to try. My lashes are short and nothing grand so a good mascara would be fabulous to find.
Hi Karen! I share your frustrations with natural mascaras. I’ve got a post up about mascaras that worked really well for me, plus there’s one more to add to the list (Hynt Beauty has an awesome one!) Feel free to check it out here: http://www.saritacoren.com/2015/11/16/6-fabulous-mascara-picks/
I have yet to find my perfect clean mascara 🙁 I’ve tried Dr Hauschka which irritated my eyes, 100% Pure which I like but smudges like crazy and Kjaer Weis which is my favourite but irritates my eyes slightly. I am also allergic to aloe which is in a lot of mascaras. I’m curious to try the Red Apple Lipstick one and I’m adding this one on my list to try too!
This topic has been on my mind too, so I covered 6 mascaras I’m loving here: http://www.saritacoren.com/2015/11/16/6-fabulous-mascara-picks/ Plus one more that I’m happy to add to the list would be Hynt Beauty. Hope you find one that you love! XO
