I’m hereby committed to a luscious lip balm. Ok, ok. I still love some other ones too. But a girl can never have too many lip balms, right? When they’re stashed in different compartments around the house, car, and other hiding spaces, it’s as though you only own one. Maybe two. And we’re not even talking about the tinted versions. Let’s not go there.
I assure you that shortly you will understand my latest obsession with Briar Muse, a niche brand that admits to channeling the “WOW” factor when developing fragrances for their hand-blended, made from scratch products. Think eco-friendly meets bakery. Enter here: images of churning barrels with aromatic potions. And, voila! Lip balms galore.
Briar Muse Lip Balms are infused with oodles of hydrating butters and oils that will leave your lips impeccably soft and supple. Here’s how they work their magic, according to the website:
- Babassou Oil – A soothing and protective oil that provides excellent skin emolliency.
- Tacuma Butter – High in Vitamin A to keep skin soft, smooth, and nourished.
- Apricot Kernel Oil – Softens and smooths skin.
- Cupuacu Butter – Promotes retention of moisture and elasticity.
- Olive Wax – a natural alternative to beeswax made from the lipids of Olive Oil to condition skin.
If that isn’t enticing enough, we have not even gotten to the flavors yet. Read these and try not to salivate (talking to myself now):
- Asian pear
- Coconut butter rum—my pick (a toasted coconut with a warm, sweet butter rum base)
- Caramel Apple
- Maple Sugar
- Strawberry cheesecake
- Spun Sugar
- Pumpkin Spice
- Fresh Mint
- French Vanilla
- Juicy Orange
Can we just say—mmm, mmm… I chose coconut butter rum because it’s such a different scent from most other brands. You know how some balms need a little warming time on your lips to get a good slide? Not so with this one. As far as texture, I’d say this lip balm rivals Hurraw! in the way it glides over the lips. It has great slip and no melt time. Your lips will be soft and sensual in no time. And—dare I imagine it?—slightly plumper too.
If you read any of my earlier posts, you’ll notice that I’m fascinated by Chinese Face Reading, an ancient method of understanding personality traits through the face. Think of it like a road map of life experiences etched into your skin. The face doesn’t lie. It can tell you anything from how creative a person may be to unresolved parental issues—even how well you’ve been nurturing yourself. Seriously.
Various areas of the face and ears record different years in life. According to this wisdom, the lips represent the decade of your 50’s. If you want to soften the landing into your 50’s, keep lips supple, smooth, and unpuckered, says face reading expert Jean Haner in her book The Wisdom of Your Face. You can even practice turning up the lips in a smile to encourage a more optimistic outlook.
I’d say that Briar Muse lip balms are reason enough to keep smiling. At $7 a pop, you’ll be grinning from year to year.
