Jaime Schmidt, founder of the popular Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant, adds hops extract to her formulas. For those of us who must know more, she tells us why.
What are the benefits of hops extract?
Oil and resins extracted from the female flowers of the hop plant are highly antibacterial, meaning they prevent the growth of bacteria and therefore help fight odor. Hops extract are also loaded with nutrient-rich amino acids which nourish the skin. Another reason we love hops extract is for its antimicrobial properties, making it an effective natural preservative and a safe alternative to parabens.
What products include this ingredient?
The full line of Schmidt’s Deodorant is made using extract from hops harvested in the Pacific Northwest.
What results can you expect?
Schmidt’s is proud to offer a deodorant that is highly effective at fighting odor and wetness without the use of aluminum or other harmful chemicals. Unlike many natural deodorants on the market, one application in the morning will generally hold up through the entire day.
What customers are saying about it…
I’m happy to say, we regularly hear from customers who tell us Schmidt’s is the only natural deodorant they have found that works for them. Customers have successfully switched from conventional chemical-laden deodorants and report that Schmidt’s outperforms. [For more impressive feedback, check out the comments here.]
Bonus question: Name one product that you can’t live without. (Just for fun, cuz we all want to know!)
It’s no secret I love pampered armpits. My homemade shave cream made from a concoction of plant oils is the perfect complement to Schmidt’s Deodorant. In fact, these are the only two body care products I’ve remained faithful to over the years!
The Edible Facial Review
For anyone—yes, I mean anyone!—who says natural deodorants don’t work, hand them this jar now! Naysayers will be shocked into stunned silence at their lack of smelliness—even after a long day. I know because I sniff myself often to make sure (yes, this isn’t always tactful, but generally I am alone!)
This jar comes with a small plastic spoon for clean and easy removal of product because the formula can get a bit stiff. I’d say this is the only drawback for those who are used to swiping on products from a stick or spray. Cream deodorants do require some hand-to-pit contact. I’ve gotten over it and so can you. Once you learn about why it’s good for you to sweat (it is! It really is!); how bad the antiperspirant ingredients are for the environment and your health; yada yada yada, you too will be kissing this jar.
I bought the Bergamot + Lime “flavor” (no, I have not tasted it but I’ve been close!). It’s a delicate but lively scent that isn’t too strong at all. The other scents look equally appealing: Cedarwood + Juniper, Ylang Ylang + Calendula, Lavender + Sage, and Unscented. I’m going for Ylang Ylang + Calendula next because it sounds like a cool combination.
For $9, it lasts a long time and is a good price point. It took me a loooong time to find a good natural deodorant that worked. While this one wasn’t the first one to work for me, I do reach for it when I need reliable odor protection for longer days. I know that I can count on it to pull me through without being offensive to anyone around me.
Now you can stop saying you “should” be using a natural alternative and just buy this. You’ll see why so many people are raving about Schmidt’s. If celeb endorsements mean anything to you, Alicia Silverstone gave up the deodorant she’d been using for 15 years for this one. After I researched the line myself, I knew it deserved a try. I sure am glad I did.
One good sniff deserves another.
Ok I will have to stop reading your blog. I have just bought two of the Schmidt deodorants to be sent to me in the UK! It will cost me a fortune if i keep reading!!
Welcome and thank you so much for the kind compliment! You’re going to love Schmidt’s Deodorant. It’s wonderful. Not all my posts are as enticing as this one, so I hope you keep reading. I’m equally happy to find your blog and will be checking it out later today!
Of course I will keep reading! I am really looking forward to trying the deodorant. I use Lush’s solid one now and do like that but would be nice to have a change in scent! The Body shop ones I tried were pretty rubbish but do also quite like the pitrok one.
So why did the company recently remove hops from the product?
Great question. It’s worth asking them. This is an older post so I guess they’ve changed the formula.
